Dr. Kowdley specializes in endocrine (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal), breast, robotic and general surgery. He is a board-certified general surgeon and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is Program Director of the Saint Agnes Surgical Residency Program and is Chief Medical Informatics Officer at Ascension Saint Agnes. He actively publishes on varied subjects including surgical education, breast cancer, hernia repair and resource utilization. He has been practicing surgery since 2001.
Dr. Kowdley received his PhD in Biophysics and Medical Degree from the University of Virginia. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Chicago. Before medicine, he graduated from Johns Hopkins University with degrees in Economics and Biology.
Since he was a child, Dr. Kowdley had a passion for science and computers. Growing up in a family of engineers, he was able to fulfill his parents’ dream to have their son become a doctor. His passion for science and engineering, combined with his devotion to making people better, came together in the field of surgery, where application of knowledge leads to better outcomes for patients.
He is happily married and has two children. When not in the office or operating room, he enjoys traveling, movies, music and spending time with his family and two dogs.
