Michelle Mon, MD, FACS

Dr. Mon is a board-certified general surgeon with over 12 years of clinical experience.  She is originally from Iowa where she earned a bachelor of science degree in biology and her MD from the Carver College of Medicine.  She continued her training at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where she completed her residency.  She has been a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 2007.

After graduation, she moved with her family to Fort Myers, Florida, where she practiced general surgery for ten years.  Most recently she worked in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area.  In addition, to general surgery, Dr. Mon has experience in emergency acute surgery care.  Her skills also include minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Mon’s desire to be a physician started as a child.  She drew inspiration from her mother who was a nurse.  While going to school, she also worked as a direct-care provider to persons with developmental disabilities.  It was here that she learned the importance of treating others the way you would want yourself or your family to be treated.  This is the principle to which she is committed during the care of patients.

When not a work, Dr. Mon enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids.  Her hobbies include practicing mediation, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, and running outdoors.
