Thomas Kang, MD, FACS

Dr. Kang is experienced in a broad range of general surgery topics including open, laparoscopic, and robotic hernia repair, pilonidal disease, skin lesions, hemorrhoids and diseases related to the gallbladder and breast.  He is board-certified in general surgery and has been practicing surgery since 2012.

He graduated from the Louisiana State School of Medicine in 2007.  He then went on to do a General Surgery Residency at the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Before medicine he graduated from Louisiana State University, summa cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in music.

Dr. Kang takes great care with each of his patients making sure that they are heard and well cared for.  While he doesn't offer primary care services, many of his patients have asked him to be theirs, which has been one of the most humbling experiences for him.  His inspiration for medicine comes from his family, who are all doctors.  His parents both were family care physicians and bestowed upon him a desire to help patients in a time of need.  He has been published numerous times and contributed to advancements in Surgery.  His research focuses on minimally invasive surgery.

He was born and raised in Louisiana.  He is happily married and has one daughter.  When not in the Clinic or Operating Room, he enjoys playing classical music with his wife. He likes to relax with a good book or a game of chess.

Dr. Kang was recognized in Baltimore Magazine's Top Doctors Guide in 2021.
